Kai Schumacher and Gisbert zu Knyphausen release ‘Der Wegweiser’

Pianist Kai Schumacher and singer-songwriter Gisbert zu Knyphausen have teamed up to set a selection of famous songs by composer Franz Schubert to music. With the release of the first single 'Der Wegweiser' on May 7th, 2021, the listener is given a piece from 'Winterreise' in an excitingly unconventional version: It is free of artificial perfection, has not declared faithfulness to the work as its goal at all, but puts emotionality and intention in the focus. "I have always been curious about how it sounds when someone approaches it in a completely unaffected way, without classical etiquette, and makes the songs his own without bias. This singer had to be Gisbert zu Knyphausen right from the start" (Kai Schumacher). Both musicians have also released a music video for the single release.

The related album 'Lass irre Hunde heulen' will be released via Neue Meister and will come out in September. The single 'Der Wegweiser' is now available everywhere.
