Neue Meister IX – Modern Classical Music
Save the date: The DRIVE Berlin opens its doors. Together with the DKO we celebrate the 9th edition of the concert series NEUE MEISTER.
The audience can look forward to an exquisite and top-class programme including a world premiere:
The award-winning Berlin producer and composer robot koch presents six pieces exclusively composed for the Neue Meister series with the Australian violinist and composer Savannah Jo Lack. Lack's expressive string arrangements and Koch's detailed soundscapes combined, create a unique sound of organic electronic music.
Yura Lee, one of the most versatile and fascinating double talents for violin and viola, invites you as soloist and chamber musician on a tour from baroque to modern music.
The British multi-talent John Metcalfe with his unmistakable melancholic chamber pop music mixes trip-hop influences, violin etudes and pop musical production. Impressive as well as his new album "Absence".
Another highlight is Clemens Christian Poetzsch. His musical range extends from stage music to compositions for dance choreographies. Classical sound language, improvisation with electronic elements are combined with double bass drones.
A musical narrative created especially for "Neue Meiser IX" - "Signals from Shushan" - for violin and string orchestra by Max Doehlemann – dedicated to violinist Liv Migdal. An oriental festival with intoxicating dance develops from rhythmic elements.
Berlin-born Iskandar Widjaja is a crossover artist between classical and modern music. For Neue Meister he gives insights into his most personal album, that he is currently presenting on tour: "Mercy" - with homages to Arvo Pärt, Max Richter and J. S. Bach.
