ALPHAVILLE with first orchestral album in band’s history on Neue Meister label

Alphaville has made itself immortal with international pop hits like "Forever Young", "Big in Japan" or "Sounds Like A Melody". After almost 40 years of band history, the time is ripe for a very special project: the re-recording of the greatest and most important hits along with newly created songs in a grandiose orchestral arrangement with the unique voice of the band's lead singer, Marian Gold. The double album will be released by the label Neue Meister (Edel) in autumn 2022. A tour of major concert halls in Germany, Austria and Switzerland is planned for spring 2023. For the production, the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg could be won, which is the perfect musical partner for the project with their great experience between pop, film and classical music.

"Regarding the upcoming Alphaville orchestra project, I am very happy to have found a committed and competent partner in Neue Meister/Edel," says the songwriter and bandleader of the first hour, Marian Gold, about the cooperation. Alphaville manager Christian Mielke adds, "We are happy that this extremely exciting chapter is now being added to Alphaville's decade-spanning history, which doubly underscores the longevity and cross-generational appeal, not only of the band's early work. "

An important partner and impetus is Thomas Thyssen, Managing Director of Schubert Music Europe, who had the project in mind for a long time: "The idea of an Alphaville orchestra album has been on my mind for a long time, all the more I can now really hardly wait to experience the world hits, fan favorites and timeless evergreens in a classical guise live in the concert halls of the country. I sincerely thank Marian, Christian, Marcus plus the Neue Meister team as well as our arrangers Christian Lohr and Max Knoth for their trust and creative collaboration."

If nothing else, the recording with orchestra and vocalist is meant to showcase the band's musical diversity and create an arc from the 1980s to today. "It is a great honor and pleasure to memorialize one of the most famous bands in German pop history, which has also celebrated international success, with this album. And you can already tell that the hits really shine once again in the new arrangements. A great project," says Marcus Heinicke, label head of Neue Meister
